| One of the goals of the Design Conference is to replicate a community of learners as we model policies (such as an open door policy) we'd like to encourage schools to follow. In past years, guests have provided some invaluable expertise, and some have contributed to our social festivities throughout the week. |
| ROLES OF CHILDREN |
Student work is always a highlight of our conference; parents
comment on the "growth" they see in their children through
participation in this authentic experience. For children ages 9-21,
we have a daily student newsletter publishing team. Also available
to children is a possibility to participate in a video newscast
crew, which produces a daily conference newscast, telecast to all
participants.
If you are coming to the conference and have a child you would like considered for one of these roles, please notify us ASAP. We have a limited number of no-cost opportunities that typically fill up early. After this quota has been filled, your child may be able to participate for a nominal fee. |
| ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FRIENDS | With their registration fee, overnight conference participants are entitled to double occupancy accommodations for four nights. For nominal additional fee, participants may have a family room of their own to include spouses, children, relatives, and/or friends. Guests may also join us for meals at a reasonable price, but are not obliged to do so. Workshop sessions in the morning are open to guests and they are welcome to observe the conference in action and participate in any of our activities throughout the day. |
| A NOTE ABOUT GUESTS | Guests are welcome to join us for the entire time of the conference, but are not obliged to spend any time with us - how they enjoy their week is completely up to them! They can network with educational professionals, spoof conference participants at our Thursday night banquet, or just play gold or enjoy the pool and exercise facilities at the hotel or university while we work - their choice. |
| "The Design Conference gave me, a parent, information on what several of my son's teachers will be doing in their classrooms, and the reason for it." |
