The Adirondack Teacher Center is enthusiastic about the opportunity to continue with the "Learner Centered Classroom/Standards Focused Initiative" under the "Targeted Instructional Staff Development" grant.

The involvement of Teacher Centers in Planning and implementing the Professional Development Activities

            The following support, resources and activities will be provided by the Adirondack Teacher Center during the coming year:
                 · Use of the center for meetings 
                 · Direct involvement of the staff in facilitating PGP and Pilot 
                   teachers (Brushton-Moira team) at the summer conference 
                   week-long training and in the coming fiscal year
                  · Course offerings available throughout the year to Project
                    participants in areas of learner centered teaching strategies
                  · Willingness to begin to replicate the process, in our region,
                    using Brushton as a model
                  · Willingness to continue to participate in planning sessions to
                    monitor progress and plot new directions for the project

The Adirondack Teacher Center has been actively engaged in this "Targeted" initiative since its inception in the Fall of 1998. This Teacher Center will be deeply involved in efforts to replicate this Professional Development process throughout the North Country.
