LEARNER CENTERED - STANDARDS FOCUSED
This consortium was one of only six in the State to be privileged to receive funding under each of the first two Targeted Instructional Staff Development grants.
The initial RFP ("If we teach as we have always taught, we'll get the same results") appealed to applicants to design replicable models over a three year period.
We feel that, by any measure, we have demonstrated meaningful progress toward achievement of the standard set in the initial RFP. We have a replicable model that can be utilized with any staff in the State as a vehicle for professional development. In this proposal, we offer:
1.
to Continue working with teachers who designed learner centered classrooms,
in 1999-2000. and to support their efforts to engage their entire staffs
in
research based, learner centered strategies.
2.
to begin the process of preparing BOCES, teacher centers, and other
professional development providers, throughout the State, to
utilize our model as a professional development vehicle for raising student
achievement.
However, to accomplish our goals and generate the replication requested in the initial RFP - and to provide evaluations of student achievement that will document the success of our model - we need the full funding of $300,000. This is a long term process. It is not, in our opinion, reasonable to expect that a good professional development model can be designed, tested, and implemented, and document student achievement, within two years.
We have been privileged to receive funding two years in a row. If support,
through this grant can be continued, at a full funding level of $300,000,
we are confident that we can continue to repay the trust placed in us.
